My walk last night was a bit hairy. I went alone, and it was dark. I am a coward. Time to begin using the treadmill...for the winter...sigh. I despise daylight savings time...and winter.
My feet moved faster
As I strained to see…
Darkness pressing in
On all sides…an ebony
Weight on my countenance.
Shadowed trees in vague relief
Sinister bushes crouching low
Muffled noises in the night
The wind whispering “Run”
Into my terrified ears.
Heart racing…
Breath ragged and quick
Frustrating fear…one more
Blow to my sagging soul…
