It is so nice outside today that it is hard to stay here. But, the mortgage company and our utilities are counting on me…so I will.
It has been a busy day, getting ready for an NASD audit…all next week. I’ve never been here for one of those, so it will be interesting. No one seems concerned…so, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. As Shane says…it is what it is.
I have had a headache for the better part of three days now…I am really hoping that a three day weekend will help. I hope I don’t have a blasted headache all three days.
Marvin had an interview this morning…the interview went well, but the company is trying to prepare for a possible opening due to illness…so it will be at least two weeks before they do anything at all. Mixed feelings…profiting from someone else’s misfortune. But…as long as someone is going to get the job…I hope it’s Marvin.
The kids are wrapping up school, and I couldn’t be more proud of them if I tried! There are not even words to express it! They have both completed their degrees, while working full time, and taking care of homes, church, and life in general! If I could change one thing about the way their education has gone…it would be, to have had the money to pay for it for them. I wish with all of my heart that we could have done that! They are both such wonderful, special kids…! We are the most blessed parents on earth!
One of my friends (from writer’s group) has been asked to do a reading of his poetry. He has a family friend who is the head librarian at a local library, and she has given him this opportunity. I think it is wonderful, and so exciting! We are planning to go and hear him tomorrow evening. Meanwhile…I got a rejection letter from another children’s publisher Saturday. My file is growing! I think I will try something new…the next batch that I send out will be adult poetry…not children’s. I definitely need some rejections from a variety of publishers.
Almost time to go home...finally.
Be Well!

Way to keep that chin up! Variety IS good for the soul.
And yes, I'd say you have reason to be proud.
And a couple of writers here in Kentucky found out that rejection letters are good. That means someone took time to respond, so you're good enough for at least that!
Sorry if that's a back-handed compliment.
LOL!! Adult poetry...just means...not so much silliness. Usually equates to 'not so much fun'. You are right...I am glad that they at least reply! I know that all the greats were rejected repeatedly...maybe someday...who knows...it could happen! :)
Just to help you out, I'll try to find the publisher for that one book I saw today when I was looking for Nancy Kress's *Stinger* for a teacher.
Well, as one of your kids, I'd have to say that we are pretty much the most blessed kids on Earth, too - the only way we have accomplished what we have is because of what you & Dad taught us growing up (except the theoretical physics - I learned that on my own) :-).
On the subject of rejection letters -- at least you know they are reading your stuff & cared enough to respond!
FYI -- the idea of "adult" poetry scares me. A lot.
