Third day...

Migraine headaches suck. For the third day in a row I am battling one. If only it were possible to slap Eve backward...away from those stinking apples...what was she thinking.

Interesting day...

My step dad is doing much better than we expected. Although he did have a small stroke...there was only minor damage. He has begun some therapy..both physical and cognitive...and hopefully by the first part of the week he will get to return home. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for him and us! Please continue...he's not out of the woods yet.

The afternoon was interesting. I learned many things about my childhood that I did not know...ranging from how sheltered and disciplined we were (not) to Chester the molester. My mind is somewhat discombobulated tonight as I mull this new info over. In the end...I'm not sure any of it matters. Life is weird.

Be Well.

Finally...

It looks as though Spring has finally arrived! The temperature is 68 degrees and the forecast is for upper 60's to low 80's for the next seven days! There is rain in this glorious outlook...but it is so much easier to stand if it is a warm rain than if it is freezing pellets of ice. I spent a couple of hours enjoying the deck after work.

Warm, smooth boards…
A gentle breeze
Touches my face.

Accordian music
Drifts lazily
Over the fence
In soft melody.

Billowy clouds
Move slowly…
Sparrows criss-cross
The peaceful sky.

Windchimes…
Soprano tones
From…
Nowhere.

Peace…be still.

Just a thought...

Every once in a while, we get a glimpse of how harsh life really is. It isn’t always in the things that happen to us…sometimes it’s in the things that don’t happen. Whatever the case may be, we tend to become jaded…and wary…of everything. Then out of the blue, God provides a reminder that He is still in control. There is still Hope in this world. Through that Hope…we learn to have Faith…but it never ceases to be slippery…almost elusive. It’s a bit like holding onto an icicle in a hot tub.

Pick up trucks
Kids at play…
Life goes on
One more day.

Shades of dread
Hues I know…
When will the
Darkness go.

In the distance
Faint, dim light…
Strains of gentle
Pierce the night.

Faith and Hope
Two old friends…
Comfort hurting
Hearts again.

Be Well!

Just a follow up...

Above...candid pictures of Woody, Funguy and Shorty, awaiting the results of the paternity test. As you can see...Funguy was still wearing that smug grin of his. Below...Woody and Shorty look on in horror as Funguy loses consciousness when Larry Birkhead announced that indeed HE was the father! Sometime later, Funguy told reporters that he would not contest the results. He is, however, planning to leave immediately for a much needed vacation...in an undisclosed location...amid rumors pertaining to Britney Spears.

Sticks and stones...

Daytime TV is always crap…but today has proven to be even worse than usual! With all of the events going on in this world…the media is almost solely focused on one stupid comment, made by a world class jackass. I could have understood a mention in the news…but this is ridiculous. To make matters worse…a news conference was held…so that the media could grill the team members on their feelings and thoughts regarding this now all consuming issue. I stumbled across the conference…already in progress. As I watched and listened…I was amazed at not only the lack of public speaking skills, but the poor diction and grammar of the participants (both black and white). If these young people from Rutgers University…epitomize higher education in this country…we have bigger problems than a “good ole boy” with a run away mouth! But…I digress. The remark made by Imus was indeed callous, ignorant and unnecessary, but it was no more offensive than rap and hip hop lyrics…or comedic dialogue often spewing forth from Comedy Central. Yet, Imus is singled out (I am NOT an Imus fan and I do NOT agree with what he said), while the aforementioned music enjoys a huge fan base…both black and white…and Comedy Central maintains good ratings. What is the deal?? Either we need to police the entire population…no matter who they are…or we need to grow up and realize that people always have…and always will…say hurtful, thoughtless and stupid things. I am the queen of the latter group…I belong to an elite class called the Human Race. Speaking without thinking is what we do. Move on.

Six...

We went to Wal-Mart tonight, to pick up a few things. I have needed some new jeans, but with summer approaching rapidly I had decided not to buy them until fall. Once the sunshine and warm breezes are here to stay...I will only be wearing shorts and skorts (and of course work clothes). But, with the snow this week and a chilly forecast for the next week or two...I knew that I needed at least one more pair. I picked up a pair, in the same size I have been wearing (size 8), tried them on and put them in the cart to buy. Marvin noticed the size and suggested that I get a size smaller...to which I replied..."There's no way I can wear a 6." So I turned my back to him and asked him to check the size tag on the inside back label of the jeans that I was wearing. He stood there...fishing around for the label and finally said, "uh...this probably looks a little odd...me looking down the back of your pants...in the middle of Wal-Mart...and all I can find are the washing instructions!" So...I took the size 6 jeans in to try them on. As I headed for the fitting room...I began to get depressed...knowing that I would never even be able to pull them all the way up. Much to my surprise...they fit! I stood there in shock...then I ripped them off and searched all of the tags...convinced that they could not possibly be a size 6...but they were! Thank you Spark People!!! It made my day!!!

Wednesday...

Greetings...from the depths of an empty mind. I seem to have a leak somewhere. I'm usually not at a loss for words...even when I am not really 'thinking' about anything...my mind is full of silliness. That hasn't been the case this week.

We went to K-Mart after church on Sunday, to buy weed killer and a handy spreader to apply it to the yard with. While there, I picked up a nice little addition to my 'other world'. Meet Sam. Some of you may think that he is almost certainly related to Shorty...but he isn't. Contrary to popular belief...all gnomes DO NOT look alike. Marvin's first question was "Are you going to put the rest of the group out in the yard too?" Holy Cow...I couldn't believe my ears. "No," I replied patiently,"Sam is, of course, an outdoor gnome...! Shorty, Funguy and Woody...not so much...how could you not know that?" He stood there for a moment...looking puzzled...Shorty and Funguy rolled their eyes...while Woody simply looked frightened.
